OTHER PARENT FEEDBACK

These are some comments we¡¯ve received from parents. They have generously given us permission to share them with you. We welcome any feedback from parents and will continue to use these as an important source of improvement and inspiration!

"Vanessa, we are impressed with such a complete and warm report on Jaime's activities, capacities and abilities.  Thank you very much for being so exhaustive."

"When arriving to a new place to live, one of the most difficult decisions parents have to take is that of choosing the best school for your kids. I know that we've taken the best choice, we really feel happy being part of the 'Ivy family', you are excellent!"

"The Ivy curriculum depends heavily on teacher observation of students.  By observing which kinds of stimulus are most engaging, teachers can tailor lessons specifically to a student¡¯s proclivities, resulting in a personalized interaction that gives students incentive to keep going."

¡°What¡¯s most important is the staff,¡± Michael Robinson says of his daughter¡¯s learning environment.  ¡°How do you get a child to ask questions?  You reward questions with insightful, interesting answers.¡±  Michael says Ivy Academy teachers are more highly educated and more motivated than anywhere else and thus are able to provide those interesting answers which keep his daughter, Sydney, bristling with questions.

"Ethan asked us tonight: - If crocodiles are older than dinosaurs, then why are dinosaurs gone and crocodiles are still here? We watched a documentary about dinosaurs a few months back (Walking with dinosaurs) and apparently he's been thinking about this. What a great job you have working with these growing minds every day. I don't know about other parents but I love hearing what comes out of those little mouths - it's fascinating to see how they work :-)"

¡°It is the first report we received for Jade and it's just wonderful!  As every parent I guess, we are dying to know what our child does when she's not with us...and it sounds great!

I just want to let you know that, actually, painting at Ivy was THE first time for Jade. Till now, we've been drawing with all kind of pens at home but it has never occurred to me that she would be ¡®ready¡¯ for painting.  So from now on we will do that too.¡±

"As we took the family trip to Japan last week, both grandma and I discovered that Megan's verbal/language skill has improved tremendously in the past 1 month after she started school at Ivy.  My mother came to visit us in Beijing in mid of July.  She didn't feel that Megan could talk that "many words" 2 months ago.  Thus, we would like to specially THANK YOU for whatever you do to Megan at school.  Not only does Megan enjoy being/playing at Ivy, but also we can see a big growth/improvement with her.

Thank you!"

"I find your weekly reports excellent.  The time schedule is good for us to read the structured approach of your teaching and the purpose of all your activities.  The individual report is great, because as you rightly state, young kids usually never tell us anything about their day at school.

I think you're doing a great job, and we are certainly extremely pleased that she was given the opportunity to join your school.

Take care, and thanks to all the team."

"We took Rosemary to her first day of school this morning. I was extremely pleased with the kind reception we received from her classroom teachers. The teachers went out of their way to welcome Rosemary, and they seemed to understand Rosemary's initial shyness. The teachers also worked with her very well to incorporate her into the class and called me mid-morning to let me know that Rosemary was getting used to the schedule and making friends with some of the other children."

"It is wonderful to have those simple but important rules for kids, and I hope she will follow them very well in school.  This morning, when I saw you holding the two boy's hands, talking to them gently about their behavior, I was very touched.  Suddenly I realized why Jessica loves this school.  Both her and I feel grateful to have such a loving, caring, gentle and patient teacher like you.  Thank you."

"Thanks so much for taking time to talk after school.  We really feel that working with him and encouraging HIM to make the right choices is a team effort...

I love to hear all your insights and how you work together with him to care for him and guide him, it means a lot to us, and I'm sure to all parents.

As parents we feel that this is the first time that we have had support and worked together with teachers on very specific issues, and that means a lot to us.  Thanks for taking time, we both have the hardest jobs and some days best and most important jobs.  We love that crazy monkey, thanks for being so great!"

"Today, when I picked Jiaxin up at school, she started to speak short sentences and words in English with me. This really is a surprise. I was prepared to hear she speaks in English at least one or two month later. I'm so glad that she likes to go to school every day. In my memory of her previous kindergarten experience in Nanjing, she cried every weekday morning before leaving for school. But since she started school in Ivy, she seems happy to come to her classroom every morning, this relieves me a lot. At first, I was worried that she has problem of integrating into her group, but seems it's not a problem for her at all. She found her way to be with other kids, and I haven't hear any negative comment from her yet. I think we have a good beginning. I should thank all her teachers for their support and courage to Jiaxin."

"I wanted to thank all of you for the wonderful care you take of my grandson.  The pictures that I see on weekly basis have been so enjoyable.  I look forward to my Fridays so that I may open your web site and see Dylan¡¯s new progress.  Most important to me is that I see how happy he is, living so far away it is comforting to know that he is in good hands.  Not only does he have the greatest parents, but now a wonderful learning center."
